Holiday coverage
The ASA/AQI offices will be closed Tuesday, December 24, through Wednesday, January 1. An AQI staff member will be available for urgent matters on December 26, December 27, December 30 and December 31. If you have an urgent issue, email askaqi@asahq.org, and a staff member will assist you.
2020 NACOR XML schema changes
In January, AQI will release the 2020 NACOR XML Schema updates. There are only two schema changes for this year: copyright and XML Version number. The 2020 AQIXMLVersion number will change, as follows:
- 2019V1.0 → 2020V1.0
- 2019V1.0 → 2020V1.0
All data files must be submitted using the new format, effective April 6, 2020. For questions, email askaqi@asahq.org.
2019 MIPS data submission deadlines approaching
The first 2019 MIPS reporting deadline is January 31, 2020. The following items are due to NACOR on this date:
- Data from January through November 2019. Practices are encouraged to upload data files prior to the deadline to allow time for review, and to submit corrected files if any errors are identified.
- Attesting to 2019 Improvement Activities (including date ranges that the activities were performed)
- Reconciliation of provider lists ensuring all NPIs are assigned the proper provider type (MD-Anesthesia, CRNA, DO, AA, SRNA, Resident, etc.)
- CMS Opt-Out for providers who are reporting as individuals
- Provider consents for clinicians reporting as individuals
The 2019 data completeness requirements for those reporting MIPS are six measures, including one outcome measure, for 60 percent of the eligible cases over a 12-month period (1/1/19 - 12/31/19). The final deadline to submit December 2019 data and any corrected files is February 14, 2020. For more information, email askaqi@asahq.org.
Individual provider consents
AQI's NACOR is collecting consent forms from each Eligible Clinician (EC) who is enrolled in 2019 individual quality reporting, as required by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). All providers must sign the consent form by January 31, 2020. AQI will only submit data to CMS for individual quality reporting for providers who have signed consent forms.
Scan and email consents (Exhibit A to the Addendum for Quality Reporting) to Javeria Ali. For practices that submitted paper consent forms and received receipt confirmation from AQI, no further action is required. For questions about consents, email Javeria Ali.
2020 MIPS Measure Specification
CMS has posted the 2020 MIPS Specifications in the Resource Library on the Quality Payment Program Website. The document is named 2020 Clinical Quality Measure specifications and supporting documents. The 2020 Anesthesiology Measure Set includes MIPS Measures: 44, 76, 404, 424, 430, 463 and 477.
AQI NACOR is also supporting non-Anesthesiology Measure Set for Pain Medicine which includes MIPS measures 47, 128, 130, 154, 155, 182, 226, 317, 404, 408, 412, 414 and 468. MIPS measure 131 has been retired.
