Upcoming registration deadlines

ASA members participating in 2020 NACOR Reporting must complete their 2020 ASA membership renewal by the end of business on Thursday, October 1. Members who have not renewed their memberships by October 1 will be charged the NACOR non-member rates for 2020 reporting.

The deadline for providers to register for 2020 NACOR Reporting (Basic, Benchmarking or Quality) is Friday, October 30. For assistance with membership status, email askaqi@asahq.org by end of business Monday, September 28.

September Office Hours

AQI's regularly scheduled Quality Reporting Office Hours are scheduled at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 8. The August Office Hour recording and slides are now available on the AQI website.

If you have a question or topic that you would like addressed during Office Hours, email askaqi@asahq.org by noon on Thursday, September 3.

2020 Improvement Activities component

Groups attesting to an Improvement Activity in 2020 must have at least 50% of the clinicians (in the group) perform the same activity during any continuous 90-day period, or as specified in the activity description, within the same performance period. The last continuous 90-day period begins on October 2, 2020 and ends December 31, 2020.

This year the Quality and Improvement Activity components will be audited prior to data submission to CMS. Please review the 2020 MIPS Data Validation Criteria for the Improvement Activities to validate that your practice is collecting the required documentation.

To prepare for the audits, practices should:

  • Maintain a list of NPIs of the clinicians who performed the Improvement Activity for up to six years, as well as documentation showing the IA was completed
  • Keep documentation of how the Improvement Activity was completed and make sure the documentation aligns with CMS requirements

AQI will randomly select practices for audits in January or February 2021 (must be completed before CMS Submission). Email askaqi@asahq.org with questions.

New Internal Improvement Measure: Intraoperative Hypotension measure (IIM025)

Approved by the Anesthesia Quality Institute (AQI) as an internal improvement measure, the Intraoperative Hypotension (IOH) quality measure supports an increasing desire for objective quality measurement and reporting with no provider documentation burden.

ePreop and the Cleveland Clinic are co-stewarding the IOH quality measure to encourage qualified anesthesia providers to maintain an intraoperative mean arterial pressure above 65 mmHg to reduce the risk of adverse outcomes such as acute kidney injury and myocardial injury.

Clinicians reporting quality data through NACOR's Quality Concierge® can participate in the IOH measure without burden. Sign up today.
