Final registration deadline October 30

The deadline for providers to register for 2020 NACOR Reporting (Basic, Benchmarking or Quality) is Friday, October 30. Learn more about NACOR Quality Reporting offerings.

NACOR practice audits to begin

To remain in good standing as a Qualified Registry and Qualified Clinical Data Registry, AQI and its registry, NACOR, is required to submit an annual data validation plan to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). To help ensure continued compliance with CMS data validation standards, AQI will be auditing the Quality and Improvement Activity Components for randomly selected practices. Practices that have been selected for audit will be notified via certified letter with instructions on how to complete the audit. The audit process will begin in the next several weeks. For more information, email askaqi@asahq.org.

Improvement Activity Attestation

The Improvement Activity list has been temporarily removed from the NACOR Dashboard while enhancements are made for the 2020 reporting year. Once the updates are completed practices will be notified and provided instructions on how to attest. Email askaqi@asahq.org with questions.

Reporting AQI Measure 48: Patient Reported Experience with Anesthesia

In order for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to score AQI Measure 48, providers must report the denominator and numerator codes for AQI48a: Percentage of patients, aged 18 and older, who were surveyed on their patient experience and satisfaction with anesthesia care, and AQI48b: Percentage of patients, aged 18 and older, who completed a survey on their patient experience and satisfaction with anesthesia care who report a positive experience with anesthesia care.

Practices only reporting AQI48a that want to receive credit for this measure should submit corrected data files. Email askaqi@asahq.org with any questions.

AQI collecting patient vaping data

AQI's Anesthesia Incident Reporting System (AIRS) is now collecting and analyzing vaping-specific data to develop learning opportunities for anesthesia providers. By collecting vaping data through the online AIRS database, AQI can gain insights from anesthesiologists who are taking care of vaping patients to track trends among vaping. To enter vaping-related data, visit www.aqiairs.org and choose the Vaping Module.

AIRS is a nationwide system for collecting individual adverse events from anesthesia, pain management and perioperative care. AIRS reports are used to educate anesthesiology providers on how to reduce or prevent future similar events.
