Targeted review deadline extension

The 2020 final scores and 2022 MIPS Payment Adjustments revisions were made to the performance feedback on the Quality Payment Program (QPP) website on September 27, 2021. We encourage you to sign into the Quality Payment Program website as soon as possible to review your performance feedback. If you believe an error still exists with your 2022 MIPS payment adjustment calculation, the targeted review process is available to you.

To offer additional time for clinicians and groups to access and review their performance feedback, CMS extended the targeted review deadline to November 29, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. ET. You can submit a targeted review by signing into the Quality Payment Program website.

Additional Resources

There are a number of resources available on the QPP Resource Library to help you understand your performance feedback and the targeted review process, including:

MIPS Promoting Interoperability Performance Category Hardship Exception

Beginning with the 2021 performance period, certified electronic health record technology (CEHRT) that meets the 2015 Edition certification criteria, 2015 Edition Cures Update certification criteria, or a combination of the two is required for participation in the Promoting Interoperability performance category. Under MIPS, you may qualify for reweighting of the Promoting Interoperability performance category (to 0%) if you meet certain criteria.

MIPS eligible clinicians and groups may submit a MIPS Promoting Interoperability Performance Category Hardship Exception Application. Hardship exceptions are available for the following specified reasons:

  • You are a small practice
  • You have decertified EHR technology
  • You have insufficient internet connectivity
  • You face extreme and uncontrollable circumstances such as disaster, practice closure, severe financial distress, or vendor issues
  • You lack control over the availability of CEHRT
  • Simply lacking the required CEHRT does not qualify you for reweighting

NOTE: If you are already exempt from submitting Promoting Interoperability data, you do not need to apply for this application. Practices who have the following special statuses automatically have the PI category reweighted: Ambulatory Surgery Center Based, Hospital Based, and Non-Patient Facing. If your practice has been assigned a special status at the clinician or practice level, it will be added to your eligibility profile in the QPP Participation Status Tool.

To apply for the hardship exception, you need a HCQIS Access Roles and Profile (HARP) account to submit a MIPS Promoting Interoperability Performance Category Hardship Exception Application. Once you sign into QPP with your HARP credentials, select ‘Exceptions Application’ on the left-hand navigation and then select ‘Promoting Interoperability Hardship.’

The Promoting Interoperability Hardship Exception Application deadline is December 31, 2021 at 8 p.m. ET.

Individual provider consents

AQI's NACOR is collecting consent forms from each Eligible Clinician (EC) who is enrolled in 2021 individual quality reporting, as required by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). All providers must sign the consent form by January 31, 2022. AQI will only submit data to CMS for individual quality reporting for providers who have signed consent forms.

Scan and email consents (Exhibit A to the Addendum for Quality Reporting) to Javeria Ali. For practices that submitted paper consent forms and received receipt confirmation from AQI, no further action is required. For questions about consents, email Javeria Ali.
