Upcoming registration deadlines
The deadline for providers to enroll in Quality Reporting or NACOR Basic for 2018 is October 31, 2018. The deadline to renew ASA 2018 memberships is October 11, 2018. Providers who are not 2018 ASA members by October 11, 2018, will be charged the non-member rate for 2018 reporting.
Start attesting to Improvement Activities via NACOR
Updates to the NACOR Dashboard are complete for 2018 so practices may now attest to their Improvement Activities. Instructions on how to attest to an Improvement Activity are on the AQI website
The Improvement Activity category in 2018 rewards clinicians for activities that improve clinical practice and patient safety. Improvement Activities will account for 15 percent of the final MIPS score in 2018. Clinicians can attest to recommended Improvement Activities for anesthesiology using the provider list in the NACOR dashboard.
Reporting AQI Measure 54: Pencil-Point Needle for Spinal Anesthesia
As part of the denominator for AQI measure 54, only patients receiving spinal anesthesia will be include in measure performance calculations. To ensure measure 54 pencil-point needle for spinal anesthesia is reported correctly, be sure to report "Spinal" as the Anesthesia Sub Category and "Neuraxial" as the Anesthesia Category for patients receiving spinal anesthesia when submitting data to AQI.

Learn how to have success at MACRA reporting in the future at AQI's upcoming pre-conference workshop "MACRA and Beyond - Successfully Reporting to NACOR" before the Anesthesia Quality Meeting. The optional pre-conference meeting is scheduled on Friday, November 16, at ASA headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois.
